ABOUT THE OPTIMIST CLUB OF UXBRIDGE
The Optimist Club of Uxbridge was chartered by Optimist International in January 1969. For more than five decades, our members have been community-minded volunteers with a shared commitment: to make Uxbridge—and the world—a better place for our youngest and most vulnerable citizens. Our motto is proudly lived out in everything we do: “Bringing Out the Best in Youth.”
PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES WE SUPPORT
Over the past several years, we have contributed to a wide range of youth-focused programs, including:
• Music Equipment for Uxbridge School Bands — helping students access quality instruments • Disc Golf Course Development — promoting outdoor recreation for all ages • USS Scholarships — supporting graduating students • Springtide Youth Stage Music Festival • Precious Minds Support Services • Joseph Gould PS Wellness Fun Fair • Uxbridge Public School Scholarship • Uxbridge Youth Centre • Literacy Reading Program • Durham West 4H • Uxbridge Scouts
EVENTS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS WE LEAD
The Uxbridge Optimist Club proudly organizes and supports several community events and youth-focused initiatives:
• Fantasy of Lights — a beloved drive-through holiday light show featuring community-created displays and raising donations for youth programs • Jr. Optimist Club (JOI) — a youth leadership group meeting the first Wednesday of each month at Game Juice Café • Food Bank Soup Kitchen — our members volunteer twice per year to support local families • Uxbridge Optimist Pump Park — helping bring an exciting recreation space to life • Uxbridge Optimist Disc Golf Course — a new course under development at Quaker Commons Park
